Sprinkles vs Sparkles

Friday, December 21st, 2012

Hello my little scones! We wrap up another fantastic week and I hope your week was as peaceful and lovely as mine. I have been fighting ebola (or some other exotic sickness) all week, but I think I am finally starting to feel less like a zombie and more like a person that woke up still drunk. I hope that all of you are taking your vitamins and drinking tea. Don’t be a half drunk zombie, your makeup never looks right unless you’re fully healthy. Fabulosity only happens with health! Anyway, without further wait, I bring you this week’s Sprinkles vs Sparkles…

♡ I loved this little bit on what type of blogger you are. I found it helpful and I am a little of three different types of bloggers. I am a Hedonist, Life Improver and a Beauty hunter. What kind of blogger are you?

♡ Being a late 20 something, I loved this Forbes 30 under 30 list. So inspirational.

♡ This is an older post but I adored these adorable illustrations for nerds in love.

Random internet birthday puppies!

I am deeply and madly in love with Daisy Lowe (and her father) and this video has been my jam all week.

♡ Finding out about this beautiful handwritten blog.

I ADORE this amazing TED talk featuring Victoria’s Secret model Cameron Russell. It’s so unbelievably honest and real and you definitely should take the 10 minutes to watch it.

♡ Loving the new Rockstar Diaries makeover.

♡  Lego Handbags by Karl Lagerfeld.

DIY Raw & Organic Deodorant, YES PLEASE! I am definitely going to try this.

This Hello Kitty/Star Trek Borg mash-up. At first I didn’t know what it was and then I realized it’s a cake. I am an not even really into Star Trek but I know this shit is badass!

♡ I am super proud and excited about my Donald Glover post on Black Girl Nerds this week. ♡ Completed my first giveaway ever on KV’s Confessions. More on the winner in a later post. ♡ Speaking of KV’s Confessions, I had a great conversation with Kristen earlier this week. It was definitely the pep talk I needed. ♡ Made plans for days! Literally. I have been making major plans and goals for the year to come in my personal and career life. It’s going to be a year packed full of love and fun. More information to come. ♡ Learned a fun burlesque routine to Madonna version of Santa Baby. ♡ Cleaned and prepped! I know Christmas isn’t here yet, but I have been working around the clock to get everything super cleaned and organized to bring in the New Year properly and without worrying about getting things in order. ♡ Got my end of the year Tarot card reading. It was refreshing and necessary. ♡ Visited Sandy Hook to deliver flowers and pay my respects. My photos from Sandy Hook will be pictured below. ♡ Went to see Fuerza Bruta for the second time and it was almost more amazing the second time around. Time is running out for anyone in the NYC area to see this amazing show. DEFINITELY do it if you can!

Brainstorm the new year in!

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

In the event that we survive the pending apocalypse on the 21st, there are 17 days left in 2012. In my opinion, this year was long as hell. It seems like last New Year’s Eve was eons ago.

Last December I decided not to make any New Year’s resolutions because I never once in my whole life actually stuck with a resolution. Resolutions are meant to be ‘fun’ where a goal is more serious and badass in some ways. When you have a goal it requires many steps to get to the end result. Resolutions seem more like wishful thinking. Don’t get me wrong, the concept of a resolution is awesome but for me, I get better results when I have well thought out goals.

My 2012 has had a lot of ups, and with the ups definitely came a lot of downs. Within my next 17 days, I will be brainstorming on what my 2013 goals will be. I want to form a solid plan that will help me stick to these goals and hopefully forming some helpful tips in my process to share with your lovelies. My plan is to start these goals before the new year because it’s never too soon to start on something you really want.

Start thinking about what you truly want out of your year and how you wish to be spending your time in 2013. Sometimes it can be hard coming up with ideas that are actually meaningful and helpful. We have a tendency to ‘think big’ but not really come up with the ideas and steps to properly get to our end results. Wake up your brain and sit down and write out all of the things that you want in your life.

I will be brainstorming and doing the same and reporting back to you guys with an update on the best way to plot to take over the world like a supervillain/supervillainess. But the best kind of supervillain. Don’t let your brain sleep on making your new year the best year ever!

Brainstormin’ like a supervillainess,

Latanya Rene ❤
