I have a problem. A sparkly, bright, glittery explosion of a problem. It’s not secret. I basically am obsessed with glitter and all things that are colorful. I feel like the older I get the more I am drawn to sparkle and colorful.
It’s pretty strange because in middle school I went through a mild “tomboy” phrase in which I didn’t want anything to do with pink, girly, or sparkly. I think for some reason, the older I get the more I want my life to look like RuPaul’s closet exploded on it.
The other day I was asked “What are you going to do when you’re too old to be obsessed with glitter?” I literally gasped and responded “You could never be too old for glitter!” It doesn’t help that I am trying to settle into the title of “Professional Party Thrower” and I am constantly hoping every event I have a hand in has something to do with glitter. My train of thought is always naturally “What…a party? Throw some glitter on it!” Putting glitter on anything makes it a instant party. Walking down the street? Throw some glitter on it! Petting your puppy? Throw some glitter on it! There should only be one rule when it comes to glitter and that is…make it rain!
Like it’s been said time and time again, glitter is considered to be “the herpes of the craft world”. I completely disagree. There is something deliciously divine about glitter. In turn, it makes glitter ageless AND timeless. Anything that sparkles not only gets everyone’s attention but it can bring a smile to the grumpiest of grumps‘ face. I would never refer to glitter as a herpes of any sort, it is more of like a beauty mark. Glitter was brought to us by the unicorn Gods to add charm to this wonderful world we live in.
Are you for or against being a glitter freak? Do you think you can be too old to love glitter? Let your glitter flag fly and spread your glitter love like fertilizer among the masses. And as always….
