How to properly fail.

do it!

I am currently at an awesome crossroads in my life. I am taking a face dive into everything I have been saying “I will try it someday” because lets face it kids, when we say “someday” it means, we are terrified.

From a small creature to adulthood, we are being taught to fear. Fear all of our hopes and dreams. Fear being happy. Fear rejection as if it is the worse thing that could possibly happen to us. A lot of people get over this fear but there are others that remain stuck which can lead to regret.

The reality of this fear or failure is, it is something that can actually be great and get you to the next point in your life. People that are the most successful fail quite often. They run into speed bumps driving high speed in luxury cars towards their goals. They do this more often than a person afraid of moving forward because they aren’t afraid of going for it and they are completely up for the challenge.

Here are some of my personal tips that are helping me get over the fear and has me racing towards the finish line of my life goals:

❤ Whenever you fail (and it WILL happen), put all of your focus on what exactly it was you learned from the experience so it doesn’t happen again. Use the good ol’ “Fool me once” saying. It can happen once and suck but if you make the same mistake twice, that’s on you. If you realized what went wrong and where, you can always correct it and try again with zero regrets.

❤ Point out what the real fear is in every situation. Once you have a clear idea of what the true scares are, ignore the unlikely. Our fears are typically based on the worse case scenario. The key to most successful things is baby steps. These baby steps turn into giant T-Rex steps once you are in a steady flow but to start, take it easy. This same concept goes for fear. Ignore that fear of aliens taking over and ruining your project, instead take note of a small issue that might come about that you can actually break down and tackle to get to the next step.

❤ Make a detailed list of your successes. Always note when you actually accomplish something because it will drown out the negative in which is built up inside of.

❤ Take on other activities that has to do with the goal in which you wish to achieve. If you’re a writer, take on some freelance gigs. If you’re a dancer, try out for that local play that is looking for extra dancers. You can plant the seeds but you have to be sure to water them. Always stay active within your major goal. You’re going to be rejected and denied but I can not express how helpful it is when fighting for what you want in life. It will all be worth it.

❤ Stop focusing on what you can’t change. Sometimes when you fail, it’s not always your fault. Don’t let that end your progress. Know that you can’t change what has happened and move forward and try again. It’s the best medicine for a shit situation that you have no control over.

The golden rule here is you need failure to succeed. The more you want something, the harder you will work. If it’s something you truly wish to be doing, it will be done and you will have success. I understand it is not always fun to deal with the not so glamours stuff. Learn to adapt and cope. The more you practice failure and moving forward, the more success you will have.

Beautiful. I totally agree. I’m trying hard to take everything that scares me this year and embrace it. Every time I’ve done something scary, it’s turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done. Good luck to you this year!
