Bonjour!

So I must confess, I have been feeling off as of lately. Maybe it’s just a small bump in the road or maybe we can blame Mercury being in retrograde but something has been in the air.

Tonight is the night. It is the night when I am hitting refresh on my life and moving forward towards awesome-hood. The past couple of weeks have been a complete whirlwind and I feel like i’ve lost some control of what I find to be important. It’s time to get organized and stay productive. I want to get my meals, fitness and health back on track. I want have more playdates with friends and stick to strict office hours. I want to catch up on the books i’ve been reading and completely unplug at least one day a week to recharge.

Life is too short to not work hard and play harder. It’s time to be inspired and share inspiration. Are you guys ready?

Building your blogger entourage.

Bonjour Bunnies!

It’s insane to think that 10 months ago, I attended one of the best workshops I have ever been to in my life. I was one of the first to attend the greatness known as The Blogcademy.

Last week, some of the local NYC blogger-cadets gathered for a mini reunion and lunch at The Smith Restaurant in the East Village. There were loads of great conversations, great food, and drinks to be had. It shaped up to be the most perfect and wonderful Tuesday.

It was wonderful to see familiar and warm faces and to be reunited with the lovely head mistresses Gala, Kat, and Shauna! Sadly, I was distracted by all of the awesome that was happening and didn’t take all of the photos I wanted to take. There is always next time!

This reunion made me realize that it’s so important to have a kick ass blogger entourage. It’s always lovely to catch up with people that understand what you’re doing and where you’re trying to go. I realized that the Blogcademy was more than just a two day workshop but a sisterhood. I already had an overwhelming feeling of unity between all of the wonderful women I have met and continue to meet because of the Blogcademy. This feeling is so strong. Like, Incredible Hulk strong.

My friend Holly Danger, who attended Blogcademy in Portland was in attendance to this lunch date. I have known Holly for forty forevers and she is one of my most brilliant and talented friends. While we were on the car ride home we talked about life and some ideas to bring more people together. Ideas that are both, creative and exciting. It’s moments and conversations that trigger an idea that can blossom into something brilliant. I’m lucky to have such an inspirational, motivational and lovely friend in my life.

I’ve had a bunch of you as me about attending The Blogcademy. Currently, the headmistresses are taking over the world and you can check out where they are going to be next here. You will not regret it.

After running around New York City all day, attending two dance classes, and being fabulous I was pretty tired at the end of the day. I went to bed with a head full of ideas and beautiful glittery dreams. I’m so excited about so many things that I can not wait to share with you guys.

Holy Troll Batman!

June 20, 2013 | How To Do Things, Life

Hi guys!

What the troll is going on? Recently, I an got electronic love letter from a lovely woman that decided to tell me that there is no way I am as happy as I appear on the internet. I informed the woman that, I do have my bad days but for the most part I try to live my life to the fullest. She then responded with “BULLSHIT!”. Instead of responding to the e-mail, I decided it would be best to address the matter with a blog post.

I’m sure there are many of us who have experienced the people lurking about on the internet that only can find joy in trying to completely humiliate others. It’s obvious they are doing this just to make themselves feel accomplished and proud. We all try to believe that most people DO mean well and are good deep down inside but face it, it seems like there can be a lot of not so pleasant people on the mean streets of the internet.

When people hide in their living rooms behind a computer screen they feel invisible. People become super villains when they think they can get away with it. They tend to do things that they otherwise wouldn’t. When you think about it, we are all a little narcissistic on the internet and when some people get caught up in this narcissism they like to pick on people that aren’t their norm.

troll4

So what is it that we are supposed to do about these trolls? Do we just tip toe around on the internet and hope that we are never the target of these dreaded beasts? Do we just stop talking to people on the internet all together? HELL TO THE NO! Granted avoiding speaking with anyone on the internet would guarantee that you never have another encounter with a troll…we all know we are very much so addicted to the cyber greatness that is the internet.

So we ALL at this point know not to feed the trolls. These creatures feed off of negativity. The best way to battle the negative is with positive. Do you have that one person that constantly disagrees with everything you put on your personal Facebook timeline? Agree with them in the most positive sarcastic way you possibly can. This usually sends the troll in a blind rage which in turn makes you the winner. To top it all off, you might get a few laughs out of your friends who are witnessing the troll and it’s dark cloud of doom. For the life of me, I will never understand the concept of disagreeing with someone on their own personal Facebook page. Stay as positive as possible and it will make dealing with trolls much more pleasant.

troll2

Sadly, sometimes the troll doesn’t pick up what you’re putting down. The troll can possibly stick around longer than you’ve expected them to. If you find yourself in this situation, you’ll have to put them down for the long sleep. Not the mobster style long sleep, but rid them from your virtual sanctuary. Blocking is ALWAYS an option. Most social sites and e-mail services give you the option of blocking someone from contacting you. If only blocking one troll could prevent future troll forest fires for everyone on the internet. That would be a HELL of an option.

If you think about it, the main objective of a troll is to silence you. Instead of doing or saying anything there is always the option of giving the troll exactly what they want…silence. Don’t say or do anything that might trigger them.  Let their hateful, negative, Darth Vader blacken hearted comments fester right where they are…UNANSWERED. If they continue to leave lame comments, they will expose themselves by trying to get you to react. I like this idea because all you really have to do is nothing and you win. Like they say “love your haters”, their rage should bring you joy because you’ve officially won. The more they stomp their giant feet under their internet troll bridge screaming at the top of their lungs, the more and more you win. If it ever gets to be intense and you’ve had enough time within your glory remember to block, report, delete, exorcise the demon, or whatever it requires to silence the troll out of your domain.

Have some sympathy for the trolls of the world wide web. While you’re out dancing in the streets, blowing bubbles, having a picnic, and having the time of your life they are spending hours of their time obsessing over how to be negative. Go out and have the kick ass life that we all know you earned because you rock and you win. The more glitter in your life, the more the troll loses.

We all hope that these creatures would have a change of heart and realize they are in the wrong. Recently I had a conversation with my favorite angry Australian, Aaron. He had a moment where he realized he was being a bit of a jerk for all of the wrong reasons. He admitted he was wrong and he was actually rewarded and admired for this. If only other people can have this moment of clarity and the world was troll free. We would all be making sweet internet love and not war.

Why do you think internet trolls are a thing? What are some of the Darth Vader cold hearted moments that you’ve experienced on the internet?

A blogger’s downtime is golden.

Bonjour my party bunnies!

Over the past month or so, I cut back on posting as much. I was taking a mental break to brainstorm and come up with new and fresh content and ideas for Sprinkles and Booze. While organizing my notes and concepts, I realized that I have more concepts than usual. It made me realize the importance of unplugging from time to time.

I have started making way more effective changes to my daily work routine. I have started giving myself mini deadlines. If you give yourself three hours instead of a full day to complete something, it is going to get done way faster. As a blogger, I was finding myself hugging my Macbook Pro for dear life from the moment I woke up until I pass out at night. It’s easy to fall into the idea of being a blogger and ALWAYS having to be connected. So not true. I realized the more I compress my time on working on things for Sprinkles and Booze and being a professional party thrower, the more quality my work becomes.

With this said, I am super excited for some fun posts, ideas, projects among other wonderful things that are in the works! Get ready because shit is about to get awesome-er.

Do you find that having some downtime triggers amazing fresh and new ideas? Does it help re-energize you? Do you listen to “Eye of the Tiger” as you work?

Professional Party Thrower Manifesto.

June 9, 2013 | Goals, Goals, and more Goals, Life

new life sprinkles

Event planning is very new and exciting for me. I have never thought of anything more perfect and wonderful as a career path for myself. Last night I wrote my “Professional Party Thrower Manifesto” and now it’s time for me to share it with your lovelies.

I believe in sparkly beverages and glitter filled rooms. I believe that we should celebrate life everyday and invest in our ultimate happiness. I believe in smiles for miles and spreading love. I believe in manifesting celebration from the inside out daily and looking and feeling your best. I believe in someday taking over (or just traveling) the world to spread color, fun and of course #sprinklesandbooze. I believe that every joy within life is a blessing and we should always embrace those joys. I believe in being playful yet elegant and sometimes geeky. I believe in coloring outside the lines. I believe in bespoke and being fabulous. I believe in always being unique and always being yourself. I believe there is no celebration that is too small or too ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong with a little manifesto action on a Sunday morning. To celebrate life, you, and the love of LUSH Cosmetics, I am hosting a giveaway on Mish Lovin’ Life and you could win a $50 LUSH gift card. I can’t think of a better cosmetic line to get a party started. Click here to check out the contest and enter!
