A Diva has to have her stuff.

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

Why hey there! As you guys may know, I am always on the lookout for fun natural and handcrafted beauty products. It is always wonderful putting something on your skin that you know is natural and isn’t secretly killing you.

Recently I was contacted by Diva Stuff which is a business based out of north Florida. All of the products sold are safe ingredients, handmade , and will make you hungry. Honestly half of the products I received I thought to myself “I sort of want this in my mouth.” So yummy smelling!

Diva Stuff was started by owner Kym when she started doing extreme research about all natural skin care products. She educated herself on all skin  secrets from around the world. Kym had taken it upon herself to share these secrets with her friends. When their powers combine they became a team of mega babes that make and sell a line of wonderful products!

Diva Stuff was ever so kind to send me some products to review. As all of you know, I am here to inform you of everything that involves celebrating your life and making everything a party. I can whole heartedly say that these products are a party for your body. The products in which I received were the Thai Coconut And Oxygen 8 Face Cream, the Lemon Derm Facial Firm Lemon-Sugar Face Scrubbies, the Body Buff Sugar Cube Body Scrub which is Strawberry Rhubarb Pie with Kiwi Seeds, and Anti Itch Dry Skin Body Lotion in the Light Cucumber Melon Scent.

The Thai Coconut And Oxygen 8 Face Cream is to die for. It’s super light and leaves your skin feeling so new and fresh. Coconut water is known to decrease the excess oils on your skin to make it look and feel soft, supple, and young. Coconut water can decrease the skin’s aging process and contains cytokinin. I honestly had no clue what cytokinin was until I googled it. It helps regulate cell growth and division within your skin. This product is like magic for my face in every which way. I had to stop typing this just to put some on right now. It is the refreshing wake up that I need in the morning.

On to the Lemon Derm Facial Firm Lemon-Sugar Face Scrubbies! What I love about the scrubbies is they can be used several times if you properly care for them. Realistically, it’s a product that is worth purchasing if you don’t want to have to buy a facial cleanser for a while. You simply have to wet the scrubbie and wash your face and then rinse thoroughly. Vitamin C which is found in lemon is so amazing for your face and complexion. I was super excited to have received this product to review. I actually used the scrubbies once in the morning and again in the evening. I have been using them now for about a month and I can see a major difference in my complexion. It seems brighter and i’m beyond pleased with this product. I wish I would have thought to take before and after photos but I didn’t know it was going to kick major ass like this.

The Body Buff Sugar Cube Body Scrub works very similar to the face scrubbies. One cube can go a long way. You are to use the cube like a bar of soap in the shower and there is enough of the cube to wash your whole body. Each cube probably would last me at least two and a half showers. The’ “flavor” that I have of the sugar cube is Strawberry Rhubarb Pie with Kiwi Seeds. When I saw this product I was like “Am I supposed to eat this or wash my body with it?” It seriously looks and smells yummy enough to eat. Luckily, I was able to control myself and use the product as it was intended to be used. The sugar scrubs are excellent for removing dead skin cells and they leave your body feeling amazingly soft and hydrated. A lot of people are not aware that sugar is a brilliant all natural exfoliator and it helps the moisture lock into your skin. I got creative with my cubes and cut some in half and have been using the smaller pieces as a hand soap in my bathroom. My hands have never felt  sexier.

Finally, the last product I tried was the Anti Itch Dry Skin Body Lotion in the Light Cucumber Melon Scent. The scent of this lotion is so clean and wonderful. I have eczema and this anti itch lotion worked wonderfully but I did have to apply it a couple a times a day. In the summer due to sweating and showering at least a couple a times a day, it’s easy for my skin to dry out. I will say that as long as I re-applied the lotion, I didn’t have many problems with scratching so it did it’s job well. I had a friend tell me the other day I smelled like a summer smoothie. I honestly believe it’s because I have been doubling up on this lotion lately.

I also received a hydrating lip balm that I used probably once before my niece stole it. I remember it tasting like gingerbread on Christmas morning and made my lips super soft. Being that my niece decided to make it hers, I would say that it’s a rockin’ product as well. With all of this said, I overall LOVE this line of products and might have become a Diva Stuff-aholic. If you’re always on the market for new and natural products, I would recommend giving this line a go. Super reasonably priced and you will become heavily addicted.

Because I adore you beautiful people so much and want to create a party on your body, I am having my first ever giveaway on my blog! Wild about Wildberries!

I needed to take a minute to give you guys a heads up about this amazing soap I purchased the other day. While we were out and about walking around Portland, we popped in to Memento. The shop was charming, fun,and full of amazing indie handmade products.

There were tons of handmade and organic soaps and I was on the hunt for something new and fantastic for my skin. I then came across the brilliance that is Mistral Soap’s Wild Blackberry. It is heaven in the form of soap!

There are two different sizes in which you can purchase. Since I am away, I bought the travel or petite size. I will definitely be purchasing the soap again online and in regular size. Seriously guys, this soap is to die for.

It seems like Mistral soap has a large variety of bath and body products and I will definitely be looking into the brand. I just wanted to pop in and give you guys a heads up on something wonderful.

I love most European body care,

How to get rid of the winter lips blues.

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

It’s January and winter here on the east coast. Winter typically means the same for a lot of us, super dry, chapped, and un-kissable lips. Lets all face it, with dry cold air and lower humidity our lips get a beating. Chapped lips are not only the most un-sexy but they can also be painful.

Having sexy lips is a desire of most ladies and some dudes. Making this desire a reality is actually pretty simple. Actually caring for your lips as you would for the rest of your skin is the fastest and easiest way to restore the natural moisture of lips. Lip hygiene is just as important as your face, arms, legs, etc. It needs to be handled on a regular basis.

Lip balm it up! I can not express how many lip lotions and potions I have. It’s kind of embarrassing but very much so necessary. Lip balm isn’t only for the winter months, but should be used with the changing seasons. During summer months use lip balms with sun screen of some sort to protect your lips against harmful UV rays. In the winter (and on some cloudy days) you should use lip balm that is enriched with shea butter and glycerin. This will reduce dry and cracked lips.

Stop licking your damn lips! It’s not helping your situation, at all.

Drink lots and lots of water. This is good for ALL of your skin. It also helps with your lip health.

Olive oil is ace! If you’re more of an all natural person and are having a hard time deciding which natural lip product to use, olive oil also works wonders on your lips.

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Shed off the dead skin cells from you lips so you always have fresh skin to work with. I do this about every other day.

Citrus is helpful! I eat lemons almost daily (yes, I said EAT) and a while back I was reading that most citrus based fruits help with skin health which of course includes your lips.

Rose water smells awesome and makes you pretty. When cleaning your face, try to spray some rose water on it and let it air dry. Spray a little extra on your lips for additional lip benefits.

Love me, love me.

Monday, January 28th, 2013

I recently had the wonderful opportunity of getting my face painted by a Smashbox representative with the products of their Spring 2013 Love Me line.

The Smashbox teamed up with the amazing graffiti artist, Curtis Kulig. I love when makeup lines team up with artists to bring a little more culture and creativity to your make-up bag. From my experience with this line, the make-up applies flawlessly and the pigments are lush and amazing.

Mr. Curtis is known for his personal tag “Love Me”, in which you can see sprayed all about NYC. It was this very tag that inspired Smashbox to create their Spring 2013 Collection. Curtis never really fully explained why his tag is “Love Me” but it’s fantastic and lovely. I personally think “Love Me” should be your own personal interpretation and I think the collection did a good job at using the inspiration of the tag to create this Spring collection.

The collection consists of two different eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, gloss, blush, and eyeliner. The pops of color are sassy and definitely full of the right amount of drama and soft. I’m sort of in love with it.

LOVE IT! I give this collect 4 1/2 out of 5 sprinkle filled shot glasses. Love me or leave me?

 Love me, Love Me,

Drown your life in Coconut Oil.

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

I have had eczema my entire life and have gone to a ton of different dermatologists. Some of them have been beneficial but all of them offered skin products that has been full of harsh chemicals and sometimes even steroids. I have been on a more natural and holistic journey over the past few years. This includes food, hygiene products, skin care, herbs, and loads more.

One great benefit about purchasing natural products is how most natural products can be used for multiple things. There are some herbs that can fix a rash, a messed up knee, make your hair grow, and get you pregnant all at the same time. I am not sure what herb that would be but I am sure it’s out there…somewhere. Possibly. ANYWAY, one of the OG’s of a great natural products that works for a million things is coconut oil.

I haven’t been using it that long but instantly realized the awesome that is coconut oil. Being a typical female, I can’t help but buy the latest lotion and skin care product that is going to make you at some point look like the super model in the commercial. People have recommended coconut oil to me often and I was caught up in the “I need to buy that skin product that I saw at Sephora because that is the best out there! I feel like it in my ovaries!” Don’t get me wrong, I still love Sephora but sometimes you need to turn down that inner beauty product snob and embrace the facts. Once I turned down the volume of my inner diva and researched the benefits of coconut oil, I realized coconut oil RULES! It is loaded with Vitamin E and fatty acids (such as lauric acid, myristic acid, capric acid and more) which are anti-fungal, anti-oxidizing and anti-bacterial, everything our biggest organ needs in order to be healthy and happy.

When I told a friend that I was going to use coconut oil as my daily moisturizer she insisted that i’ve gone mad and you can’t use something you cook with all over your body. I am not sure when women stopped relying on homemade beauty remedies to get the job done, but a lot of women depend on chemical filled beauty products these days and ladies, we need to change this. Women in the 40s didn’t have the luxury of choosing between Clinique or Lancôme but they still took beauty seriously. They were queens of gathering things straight from their kitchens, putting it all over their bodies, and always looking stunning.

With all of this said, lets break it down and get right into where to use coconut oil and how it’s been working for me.

For the dead cells on your head:

I typically don’t have dry hair or scalp but I have been using coconut oil as a hair and scalp moisturizer as of lately. It’s seems that it is best to use coconut oil a little while before you shower and wash your hair. I just put a small amount in my ‘problem’ areas and then wash my hair like I normally would. It’s also fantastic for any frizz issues you may have. If you add a small amount to your hair while straightening, styling, drying, or whatever you will notice quickly that it combats that frizzy awfulness.

Dark Elbows of doom:

I read not that long ago that coconut oil is perfect for getting rid of dark/dry elbows. I have been putting some extra oil on both my elbows once in the morning and once at night for a while now and the results are NUTS. I wish I took a before photo but the difference made my brain explode out of the back of my head.

Rashes, Eczema, Psoriasis, Severe Dryness, and Ebola:

I personally suffer from eczema and server dry skin. Out of all of the natural remedies i’ve tried coconut oil has been hands down the best. It also helps with other skin conditions and if you have a random rash. I apply coconut oil to any part of my body that is itchy or feels dry almost right away. Like my elbows, I typically will apply it to my whole body twice a day. Lately since it’s cooler weather, I have been overdosing on coconut oil but am noticing great improvements in my skin. As far as ebola…I am sure coconut oil can help with that…somehow. Science!

Eat it up because it’s good for you:

I am not a fan of coconut, at all. BUT for those of you that are better than me, you can use it as a spread instead of butter, in your baking, and your cooking. Make sure if you plan on eating your coconut oil you are buying the type that you can cook with. There are lots of cosmetic coconut oil products that I am not sure are safe to eat but if you buy it from the cooking area at your market then you’re good to go. You can use that on your face and in your tummy.

I recently purchased the Spectrum Essentials coconut oil for skin and hair care. So far it’s my fav! I try to stick with unrefined, pure virgin or extra-virgin. Go straight up organic if you can. The great thing about coconut oil is a little goes a long way so you don’t have to use a ton of it when applying it to your desired areas. You can buy coconut oil at your local market, healthy food store, or online (Amazon has a million brands!). For all of the amazing benefits of coconut oil, it is shockingly inexpensive compared to what us ladies will spend on some beauty products.

Are you already having a love affair with coconut oil? How do you use it and do you know of any other benefits? Did it get you pregnant? Did it cure your ebola?

Always putting the lime in the coconut,

Latanya Rene
